NFTs & GameFi | The NFTs
In our previous articles, we described the minting and distribution process for our NFTs.
Our NFTs will be a bit unique compared to what most people are accustomed to seeing. Typically, users are accustomed to seeing an ERC-721 NFT that is some form of artwork and/or one of a collection of artworks that have some underlying “stats” and rarity characteristics. While we will still be using the ERC-721 standard, our NFTs will not be quite so basic.
Most collections are, for example, 10,000 variants of a basic stock image all derived from one central NFT contract. Our NFT “collection” will go beyond the single contract model. When one of our users mints their NFT, they will actually be creating a unique contract for their NFT, and each new NFT will be creating its own unique NFT contract. This gives us a lot of benefits that a typical NFT collection does not have. This NFT will act as each user’s game piece, evolving over time as the game is played. Typically, each NFT is merely a pointer to information that is stored elsewhere and functions as a link to that data. Ours will be storing all of the additional data in the game-piece contract itself.
Related, because each NFT is its own contract, each NFT can have its contract upgraded to include improved statistics, new traits, new abilities, attachments, augments, etc. Most importantly though, our NFTs can function as their own token repository. Not only do the NFTs have their own intrinsic value, but because they can be imbued with tokens, they have an innate value based on the value of the tokens in the contract. By imbuing your NFT with BOOFI, you will upgrade your NFT to unlock new levels of moves and possibly new abilities altogether.
Our goals for the NFTs are that:
- Each NFT has a benefit and usefulness. Nothing sucks more than getting hyped for a mint only to mint a handful of NFTs that just suck! We aim to have no sucking!
- Just because your NFT may not start with stellar stats, you’re not stuck with that. You will be able to upgrade and improve your NFT over time. There will be a path to being a battle machine with a basic, common NFT. However, something ultra-rare may have its own special perks.
- Each NFT is upgradeable. As we develop and release more games and content, we want our NFTs to be able to grow with the game.
- Each NFT looks great! We plan to have our own unique style. We didn’t fork our base DeFi code, we aren’t copying NFT contracts, and we sure as hell aren’t copying someone else’s look!
